I understand why folks get upset, but for Paul's Boutique alone, Beaties belong. Anyone that saw their tour with firehose knows those guys do way more than just "rock a mic".

They are a far more creative collective than either Guns n' Roses or the Chili Peppers and outside of a few early mis-steps have an impressive body of work.

I really thought we were talking music here. The Beasties more creative than RHCP? OK. ????

Outside of Flea and Frusciante their is little talent in the RHCP,almost all their music sounds the same, the singer can't sing and what they do was done better by Fishbone and a number of other bands.

i'll admit i don't know a whole lot about the beasties, but are they really as diverse as rhcp? the peppers play funk, punk, alternative, straight rock, soft ballads. they have rap infused music as well. psychedelic stuff too. they've incorporated reggae, and metal. possibly others as well.

i agree that flea and frusciante is where most of the talent resides, however will ferrell... uh, i mean chad smith is a pretty accomplished drummer. i'm not sure if you've ever heard just john, flea, and chad jamming nonstop in a studio, but it's damn impressive. chad adds a lot to their live music. and keidis has great stage presence, the fans love his lyrics, and adore him.

In a quick check of their discography here is what I found in the RHCP catalog that I liked.
Suck My Kiss
Give It Away
Under the Bridge
Scar Tissue (basically Under the Bridge with different lyrics)
Californication
one song on new record, don't know the name

It should be mentioned that they butchered 3 classics Subterranean Homesick Blues,Higher Ground and Rollercoaster.I believe their first record came out in 84',so that's a fairly long career to yield a few good songs.

The Beastie Boys on the other hand produced a masterpiece in Paul's Boutique, and if they did nothing else that trumped the RHCP entire career, but they also put out 4 other impressive albums and the most recent with which I am not familiar.A quick overview if you are inclined to give them a listen.

Check Your Head:
So What'cha Want
Pass theMic

Ill Communication:
Sabotage
Root Down
Flute Loop

Hello Nasty:
Body Movin'
Intergalactic (sample lyric-"like a pinch on the neck by Mr. Spock")
Dr. Lee Phd (w/Lee Scratch Perry)

To the 5 Boroughs:
Ch-Check it Out
Hey,Fuck You

I don't hear the diversity you mentioned in the RHCP,they sound to me like a rock/funk band, whereas the Beasties truly display diversity through the use of samples and later on instruments, their dj is a seriously talented individual.

With style and finesse I'm never second best
Drink beer for breakfast pass any piss test
Mai Tai's no tie dyes I don't red by candles
I don't wear beads or Birkenstock sandals

I'm just happy a bunch of white jewish rappers got inducted and me make me want to go put on my Fear of A Black Planet t-shirt...

So What'cha Want? Who is starting the Chickenfoot petition?

I liked RCHP up to the point of Blood, Sugar, etc but then it got pretty damn repetitive and duplicative. Chad can drum, but I actually prefer Irons. FWIW, Flea is a super "sweet" guy and really helps the Henry Miller Library. Then again, he's got a place right across the road...

I agree. The Chilis have an a pretty impressive and creative catalogue from '84 to '06. I really believe RHCP is both more creative and versatile. Perhaps not as innovative though.

AND STILL NO RUSH!!!

http://www.petitiononline.com/petitions/xanstar/signatures

http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2011/09/21-no-12-geeky-reasons-why-rush-should-be-inducted-into-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-geekdad-wayback-machine/

JOAN JETT?!?!?!
JOAN FUCKING JETT!!!!!!!!??????????????
Studio albums as Joan Jett~
Joan Jett (1980)
Bad Reputation (1981)
Studio albums (With the Blackhearts)~
I Love Rock 'n' Roll (1981)
Album (1983)
Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth (1984)
Good Music (1986)
Up Your Alley (1988)
Notorious (1991)
Pure and Simple (1994)
Sinner (2006)

RUSH? ~
Over the course of their career, Rush has come to release 24 gold records and 14 platinum records (3 of which have gone multiplatinum),
placing them within the top 3 for the most consecutive gold albums by a rock band.

The same 3 guys since 1974 -

Studio albums ~
Rush (1974)
Fly by Night (1975)
Caress of Steel (1975)
2112 (1976)
A Farewell to Kings (1977)
Hemispheres (1978)
Permanent Waves (1980)
Moving Pictures (1981)
Signals (1982)
Grace Under Pressure (1984)
Power Windows (1985)
Hold Your Fire (1987)
Presto (1989)
Roll the Bones (1991)
Counterparts (1993)
Test for Echo (1996)
Vapor Trails (2002)
Feedback (EP) (2004)
Snakes & Arrows (2007)
Clockwork Angels (2012)
And also would like to throw in the "Songs for Tibet: The Art of Peace" contribution for good measure. Humanitarians, philanthropic, intelligent, contributing, phenomenally talented musicians... IGNORED. Pathetic
if you ask me.

The RnR Hall of Shame has become more and more of a joke
with each passing year. I wont even waste a tank full of gas to go there anymore.
\
EDIT~ And btw, one of the latest release from Rush? ~
http://www.amazon.com/Rush-Time-Machine-2011-Cleveland/dp/B005D0RDIE
(Moving Pictures performed in its entirety)
How's that for irony?

end rant here...

The whole thing is a farce. Worse than judging Olympic figure skating. I say convert the hall of fame into a parking structure. Problem is we could go on all day mentioning talented people who are not in as opposed to some who had more hits who are in. Should Madonna be in over Rush and Stevie ray Vaughn? In rolling stone's eyes she should.

Slowing roll taken my cyber-friend.
I was venting frustration on the RnR hole of fame, not towards you there user. No ill will intended UU ~

Just responding my opinion on the subject you presented. I agree with you and them some I guess...

I understood that JJ was nominated and not inducted while typing that post. I just cant understand some
of the obvious people that are overlooked and not even nominated in a "hall of fame" is all.

I will let the record speak for itself:

http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/2007/ Take em all in...

http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/2008/ Cohen & Madonna? Thats something, huh

http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/2009/ RUN DMC & Jeff Beck in the same year?

(Metallica is the obvious choice, HA!)

http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/2010/ .........fuckin ABBA, really?

http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/2011/ sigh

http://rockhall.com/inductees/byyear/2012/ And what a better year to induct and band with a multiplat record named 2112? No such luck.

And no SRV? Dont get me started...

"The whole thing is a farce." ~ Cant say more than that brothers and sisters.

I laughed my ass off when the Swedish Synth Pop band ABBA, was inducted into The ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame. And there's no room for Rush or SRV. This is more of a joke than a list by Rolling Stone. I haven't taken the RNR HOF seriously in awhile. They do have some good performances sometimes though. But the induction process is preposterous. I just look forward to the amazing performances that occasionally transpire, such as:

I'm not a Prince fan, but he SHOULD be in the HOF, and I have a lot of respect for what he's done. That being said, I don't find that particular solo to be very impressive. It's good, but he's capable of much better than that. Try listening to it without all the flashy antics from Prince, and I don't think it will be as impressive.

How about these dudes:
